As I sit here, it’s really hitting me that I’m getting married in less than two months! I’ve been so focused on the unbelievable weddings that closed out one of the busiest, and best, wedding seasons ever (seriously…stay tuned to this blog, because we have some amazing stuff to share with you!) that I’ve definitely been slacking on my own wedding planning. As I’ve been telling my clients – do as I say, not as as I do. On the seemingly endless list of things still left to do is plan our honeymoon. I’m thinking about all the places that rank high on the list of locations that we absolute-ly love and, while there are many that stand out, I want to take a moment to highlight an amazing location I recently had the opportunity to visit. It’s the One & Only Ocean Club, Bahamas.
I’m incredibly fortunate that this job has taken me to some luxurious places. Truth be told, at this point in my career, it takes a lot for a location to make me stop in my tracks, especially when some of my favorite spots are those that provide a completely blank canvas. That’s why I feel even more compelled to share this.
I was invited – along with other select wedding and event planners from all around the country – to visit this exquisite property (Note: Forget Bachelor in Paradise, ABC needs to host a new show called Planners in Paradise at this most perfect location.)
As soon as I stepped on to the resort grounds, I was immediately transformed into a zen-like state. It was a level of relaxation I hadn’t experienced in quite a while, and one that I will spend the rest of my life trying to achieve again.
I could go on and on about the breathtakingly gorgeous grounds with ocean views at every turn; the wonderful service and staff who catered to our every need; or the incredible food that forced me to break my wedding diet, and not even feel bad about it. Every detail of every minute of every day of our trip was thought out and meticulously planned with the utmost attention to detail. Every time we left the room and came back, the most thoughtful, personalized items – that were customized and specific to whatever activities were happening at that time – were left for us. From special shawls for a breezy outdoor dinner, to embroidered hats for our day at the pool, there were goodies at every turn that surprised even the most seasoned and experienced wedding professionals who have basically seen it all. On the evening before one of our dinners, there were special custom purses made for us (thank you Wildflowers Events & Occasions) that matched the décor for the evening. Wildflowers Events & Occasions will leave you breathless as you peruse their site and see the spectacular venues and spaces they transform with their floral and decor productions. All weekend long, in every available event space that the hotel offers, they created grand dinner tables with canopies overhead and unique tablescapes with eclectic seating.
Until you can visit and see for yourself, here are a few photos from this extraordinary, beyond-your-wildest (and most luxurious!) dreams resort. Thank you to the immensely talented Lux Rox Photography for tagging along with us and capturing moments we will never forget.
Um, did I mention the food was delicious? Hands down, some of the best food I’ve tasted in quite some time.
While this trip, and entire experience, was one of the most memorable of my career thus far, the greatest gift given to me from this experience was the relationships formed and cemented with some of the most influential, kick-ass, supportive, fierce, and creative women in our event business. We now have each other to learn and grow from, as well as celebrate and share with for always. Yep, I’m talking about you Stacey Feldman, Carrie Zak, Sara Renee, Ceci Johnson, Sade Dawodu Awe, Jodi Moraru & Tracie Domino!
And, a special shout out and HUGE thanks to the “One and Only” Nancy Brenner of One & Only, along with Viktoria and Crystal. There aren’t enough words to express how phenomenal you guys are. You are the heartbeat of this paradise and for you guys, we will go anywhere. But, in this case, thank you for making it Paradise Island, Bahamas! 🙂
If you’re still reading this, and you haven’t already booked your flight to the One and Only Ocean Club, Bahamas, what are you waiting for?!
